I'd keep her inside till she is scabbed over, because even a minor wound will draw flies and they can make small matters very big./ or get the fly off ointment at TSC and put on it. Bless her heart, looks like she'll be fine but i bet she was scared. and you too.
I had to move the water which is 1/2 of the largest size dog kennel made and weighs a ton when full. I was terrified that I would crush her while moving it. Thankfully she is mostly ok. She's outside in the brooder right now but if I go out and see flies all over her I'll bring her inside. Possibly just keep neo on her will keep them off, If you read the thread Amiga posted about her friends duck who was injured and the flies that laid the maggots, well it was awful, thats why I said about keeping the flies off.I had to move the water which is 1/2 of the largest size dog kennel made and weighs a ton when full. Trust me, I am much, much more frantic about keeping the flies off since I saw what I saw.I' not sure I want to read that but I will for sure bring the duck inside now!

Oh terrible. My duck is still outside. Seems fine. I think She is actually a he as he has a ring around his neck. Not sure. But he's healing up and I don't have a huge fly problem right now. I use the fly catchers.Yes, and not just because of the maggots. He had been mauled by a raccoon, and had sustained injuries that the vet said were not fixable, including the probable beginnings of bone infection.
