Duck Laying In December!?

I got 10 ducks over the summer so they haven't had a laying season yet. I went out in a snowstorm -40C and found an egg!. I went out this morning and found another. they get around 3 hours of light every couple days. Why are they doing that? Thanks

Some ducks just gotta lay. My little Hazel is still laying most days. Go figure.

I have just one out of 8 still laying. For now LOL. I think it is a Spring Hatch.

This is our first winter with our two ducks, a male and a female. We got them as 3-week old ducklings in June. Since mid November she's laid 10 eggs that we know of.

I've got 3 Welsh Harlequins, and they lay all the time! My 3 Speckled Sussex chickens don't lay worth a darn. Go figure.
