Thank you! Her foot is sore today but I'm sure it's from all of the manipulation last night. She laid an egg this morning for the first time since the day after her pain started, which has been weeks. Hopefully we're going to get her back to herself very soon. Thank you so muchLook what you got out that is great!! Id say your on the way to healing now. That is pus for sure. Just check in a few days to make sure it's all out. You did a great job there.![]()
I wasn't sure about wrapping because of the amount of swelling she's had and because I know that she can swell even more. The cuts we made were like this size ------- and there are 2. Both are not that big. Just cut enough to get the pus chunks to come out. I will coat more & wrap her foot up if you think I should. I do have that flexible self sticking wrap that I can use over some 2 x 2's and or larger. Maybe that might help the pain too? It's not on the bottom of her foot, but more her ankleI bet it’s sore but it’s amazing how fast they heal after we get that infection out. And she thanked you with an egg. Just be sure to keep her foot clean and are you using antibiotic ointment and wrapping?
Thank you! I'll go clean her, and put some plain neosporine on the wounds and wrap her foot/ankle up.I’d wrap just because it’s just too easy for poop to get in while it’s open that will keep any nasty bacteria out. As for how could have been a scratch that’s all it takes with what they walk in daily.
My Pekin duck, Honey, has an injury to her foot/ankle. She does have some swelling and heat coming from the area. I believe the injury is from my drakes over mating her. Other than separating them, what else do you suggest I do to help her? Any pain meds safe for ducks? I don't have a picture of the foot but I will try to get one without disturbing her too much as soon as possible. Unfortunately, it's obvious that she is uncomfortable. Thank you for any help you can give
