Duck leg/foot pain relief options?

I’d wrap just because it’s just too easy for poop to get in while it’s open that will keep any nasty bacteria out. As for how could have been a scratch that’s all it takes with what they walk in daily.
Metacam. Its good. Remember spray spray spray with VETRICYN. Cant go wrong

Vet. For pain you can dissolve a baby aspirin in water and give to her every 4-5 hrs. That is what Meloxicam is for pain.
OH okay. I have some of that but it's old and there's no way it's any good now since it was already mixed too. I don't have a vet that will see my ducks unfortunately. She does really well on carprofen for pain but I will try the aspirin. I'd much rather give her a pill instead of liquid. Liquid just scares me although I have to give her liquid every day twice a day

Hi! I wanted to update on Honey. Poor girl is still having to be locked up, but she's started laying regularly again. I have the eggs to possibly cook for her, but I don't feel like they're safe for human consumption. A couple of nights ago I removed her bandages and was able to get another chunk of pus that was attached to the scab that had formed. After doing this, I cleaned her up, coated with plain neosporine and rewrapped her foot. I'll share some of the pictures. If there is anything you think I should do, please let me know. Honey gets an antibiotic twice a day.

The other cut made to the front of her ankle has healed up completely, but you can see where the color is much lighter in that area.

She had to have really had some serious infection going on and no telling how many more times you might have to get that stuff out at least you are. Swelling looks like it’s down, do you think, are you soaking In Epsom salt water too? How much longer does she have on the antibiotic?

Yes, I agree with you, the swelling is definitely down, but still there. I'm guessing the peeling places on her ankle are from the infection inside (kind of like how some of the top layers of skin die & peel off anytime an ingrown toenail ends up in a nasty infection down in the skin) or maybe it's from the trauma of us pressing and mashing trying to get pus out. I feel like we need another cut, but I'm just not sure where exactly. I still feel some swelling but not feeling hard pieces inside like we did when we got the pus out the first time. I just counted and I have fourty eight 500mg Amoxicillin. She's going through 2 capsules every day and a half. (She wasn't getting anywhere near the amount of amoxicillin that she should have been getting, but she is now, thanks to a helpful member here) I am so thankful that she didn't get septic and pray that this doesn't happen. I haven't done the epsom salt soaks in a while now. Maybe that will help get this infection out a little faster. If it takes a while, I'm willing to help her. I do worry about her being on this antibiotic for so long. I will check with the member that helped me with dosage about her being on it for so long. I don't even know how long it's been, but it's been a while now. Honey is getting frustrated with me. I have to use a larger syringe to give her so much more antibiotic and she doesn't like that at all. She actually pinched me after messing with her foot the other night, but I immediately forgave her. I'm sure it does hurt. She could act much worse, so I am grateful that she is as amazing as she is. She's certainly put up with an awful lot for a long time. I am very impressed with her.
