I am new to having ducks. Two days ago one of my month old pekins fell into a hole. She seemed fine when I got her out but now today I've noticed she is walking with her left leg sticking out to the side. She doesn't want to move a whole lot so I have moved her to my "sick bay" (the brooder she and her sisters were raised in) and am monitoring her closely. She is drinking and eating but definitely doesn't want to move far to get to food and water. Is there something I should be doing other than what I am already doing?

This was the best pic I could get. This site will not let me upload a video for some reason. She is walking with a slight limp with her left leg sticking out slightly to the left.

She also sticks her left wing out when she's trying to stand up, almost like she's trying to balance herself.

Have you had her in some warm water to float since the injury? doing this gives you an idea of how well she can use her leg with the weight off of it. Maybe put her in a hobble for a few days to keep the leg in the proper position while healing, but first, try the warm water and observe her use of the leg. Then check back in with us.

She swam around with her leg out to the left. She wouldn't put any weight on it. She did reach it up so she could scratch her nostril. When I got her out I noticed her tail pointed toward the right side and it seemed like it was painful to move it to the left when she was standing still. She wriggled it normally while in the water. She definitely moved the leg more in the water. She doesn't seem to be in any distress
