hi everyone!!! im new here, so i hope im posting this in the right place! i have two ducks, a cayuga named Tracy and a pekin named Peep. Ive been raising them in and outdoors for about 2 months now, my first ever waterfowl pets, and anonymously monitoring this forum regarding any general questions i had. However In the last two days, ive noticed peep has been limping. I dont see any cuts or scratches on his foot, its not discolored or anything. Just a regular foot. but it seems a bit weak, and he doesnt want to stand or walk on it. I went and bought some niacin because i read that a difficency in it can cause limping (Among other complications. Curse me for not getting it sooner) and ive been mixing the contents of 2 capsules into their water. I also got some new food, country road meatbird crumble, because the food theyd been eating was for ducklings and despite the store ladies advice to feed them that food for the first 3 months, i figured they were getting sick of it anyway. My dad doesnt want to take him to the vet yet and wants to watch it for a while to see if the change in diet helps, and also avoid a bill, but i dont want this to be some underlying thing that will only get worse if we dont catch it now. What should I do? Should he be walking on it or resting?
Here is info on niacin deficiency.
