Duck lunging up arm?

I have the sweetest little young drake, almost 5 months old now, hand raised and raised alone as his sibling mysteriously died. Wouldn’t hurt a fly, and still follows me around, he even submits to my call duck ( who is a third of his size) that’s being mean to him. But I scratch his chest and sometimes he will lunge up my arm, and I heard it could be a dominance behavior. What do you guys think and should I do something about it?
 
They can sure be a handful. Don't pet him that stimulates their desires. If he won't quit pick him up and hold him like a baby for a few minutes put him down and hopefully, he'll waddle on off if he doesn't then give him a nice bath with your compliments. My Drake gets tossed in the pool many times a day when he is at his worst. He hits the water and starts bathing gets out and has forgotten about me for a while.

Does he vibrate his neck when he does this, like he's shaky and dives up at you?
If so, it sounds like hormones. My girls do this often, whenever they get excited, or anxious, or hormonal. Unless he's biting or climbing on you, anything like that, which could be mating behaviour

Yes, when I come near him his neck starts vibrating, and he likes to nibble on fingers and cloaths, but he has always nibbled, and if you let him, he will come and stand on your leg when you sit down. He doesn’t even do all of this to just me, he loves random people he doesn’t know as well lol. This is my first time raising a duck myself, and my first drake so I’ll keep this in mind when handling him from now on

I don't believe this is anything aggressive then, he sounds ever so sweet!
My girls are hand raised too, and do this often
 
Drakes are totally different than females although females can get carried away too, but I have a Muscovy drake who was rejected by his mama so he came in side the house for his first 6 weeks Oh my gosh was he a delight to have my dh and I loved that little thing and he bonded with us too. Then fast forward to 14 weeks and beyond oh boy If I turned my back he would try and fly onto my back or he would climb up my leg and he would not quit, I came on BYC for help and many told me to put him down that I'd never be able to have him as a decent part of the flock. Of course, I was heartbroken I loved him so much. Well, a few people gave me advice I could live with. This was almost 12 yrs ago. The main thing was to be consistent in my approach with him. If he challenged me by being aggressive then I would hold him down putting one hand at his neck so he couldn't bite me and the other where his tail and body meet and hold him like this on his belly until he quit fighting me. It def isn't a one-time thing it was many times a day. But in the last few years what has worked best for me and Opie is tossing him into the pool he forgets that he was after me when he hits the water has a nice wash then gets out and heads off to preen. Usually, only a few times of day do I have to do this. Sometimes when hormones are at their peak he gets more than a few baths a day. He is such a special boy and I love him but I do not let him get away with being aggressive with me. I do understand that the reason he is like this is because of the hormones raging inside of him I don't hold that against him but I do know that a sweet gentle drake can sure change once they become sexually mature. Opie can be the sweetest thing and turn into a nutcase in a short period of time. He has his own females but that does not stop him when he takes a notion to want to bite, all I am saying is don't be surprised if your sweet boy starts showing more aggression or just wanting to be sexually active with you. Or your other ducks. Or your dog or cat etc. He may even go after hens if you have them. Just be ready. My boy is going on 12 yr old this coming June I cannot imagine not having him in my life.
Many people want to give up on their drakes when they become sexually mature but if you know how to handle them you can have a relationship with them it just has to be with you as the dominant one in his life not the other way around.

Noted! I am actually planning on giving away my call duck ( She was a gift anyways) so he doesn’t hurt her, and am trying to figure out getting a few more girls for him. Love that duck, but I’ll just have to watch him as he gets a bit older
