Duck Maturity Question

Mine too she started even before she was 4 months old and her sister was over 4 months. Grace would lay down for Opie and Opie would look at her like she was nuts. Muscovy females don't do this.

Yeah Coco doesn't have this sex drive. She is more concerned about flying around and scoping out the yard than anything. She's gorgeous though. I need to get a new pic of her.

Coco has changed so much since I last showed you her @Miss Lydia

She's brown with green wings. She has some checkered type pattern on her chest. Around her eyes I call it Oreo cookie because it's white with black specks. She's so amazing to look at. I'm so in love with her. I did not like her last month when she ate the insulation, but DH found a way to keep them out.

He put up 3-ft metal sheets all along the bottom of our coop so they can't get in it. He did an amazing job! It was metal we got for free too so that was nice. Now they're all toasty warm in their insulated coop.

I know they can find a way to get into trouble. Glad dh found a solution and free too! I have been stapling the plastic coated feed bags along the lower walls in my coops for easier cleaning since the runners like to back their butts up to the wall when sleeping, went in last week to clean an someone had gotten hold to an end and it comes apart in string like stuff so needless to say I was watching everyone for a few days for feed bag string in poop. Fixed the problem not waiting for what’s next they sure keep us on our toes!!

Coco is so different compared to the white layers in Pekin. She just does her own thing and isn't like a duck to me. She acts like a dog. She will follow me everywhere in the yard. She also likes to scare our puggle when she is using the bathroom because she will fly over her head

My ducks hatched in mid August. The Cayuga Drake (Stormy) and Golden 300 Drake (Indian) are a week (maybe more) younger than the 2 Pekin Drakes (1 guys name is Drake & the other is Reggie), Pekin duck (Honey Boo Boo) , and Golden 300 duck(she's definitely a female but her name is Tom Tom). Every time I see Tom Tom, her head is bobbing, and I'm not exaggerating. Honey does some sideways head bobbing like she's telling them to move or something. The Pekin Drakes have made NO attempts even after given the ok from the girls. The Cayuga and Golden 300 do take their advances to heart as I've noticed them mounting the girls in the pond. Tom Tom is so tiny and it makes me so nervous everytime she goes under. Sigh......

With all of that said, my point was that my Pekin Drakes don't seem to be mature either. Maybe they're a little bit slower to mature due to their massive size?

Just in case anyone is wondering, I do plan on rehoming some drakes as I know that I have too many for my 2 girls.

I have been keeping my eyes peeled to make sure my drakes don't try anything with my chickens and so far no problems. But...now my 6 month old rooster is mating with my 6 month old mallard hen. They seem to have a relationship. Craziness!

Alas the rooster isn't really "equipped" to make that relationship fertile. But maybe you could "help it along" and see if you can get a chuck or a dicken.
