One of my 9/10 week old ducks (drake) was stuck behind the small pool in their pen yesterday morning. No idea how he got there or why, but I feel he was probably there all night. He had really bad wry neck as a hatchling and I managed to get him fixed up after 4/5 days of TLC. But he has always had a slight limp. Yesterday morning he could only just shuffle along. I have had him inside since around 11am yesterday, he is eating and drinking (with a double dose of Intervit in water) but as of last night was still not walking. It is between 2-5 degrees celsius outside at the min at night. He is currently in my room which is around 10-12 c. Any idea of the problem or solutions welcome. TYIA.

Also I forgot to say, he seems to be pooping normally, but it is really smelly!!. I also heard his tummy gurgling yesterday aft (like when we have diarreah).

I had a chook get wedged in a roll of wire just last week. I got it out and it looked worse for wear, I suspect a bit of heat stroke because it couldn't air it's body out and it'd been struggling. It must have been stuck nearly all day.

I took it inside for the night because it couldn't jump up to roost. It was walking strange and dizzy looking. It didn't poop all night.

I put it back out in the morning so it could do its thing, and it was back to normal after a few days.

I think the more it tries to walk the more it will be able to, physiotherapy kinda thing... Maybe swimming will help...

gave him a nice warm bath earlier, only really used his right leg for cleaning himself. but he can use it. he's not really eaten today so going to make him some scrambled egg shortly and see if he'll take that. Should I add milk to it or just egg? Thanks all. x

pretty much the same. still not wanting to walk :( i have some self adhesive bandages, should i try using one to see if it helps?
