There are tons and TONS of turtles at that pond. I mean TONS! I've counted 45 on any given day.
The big visit was today. The lady came, netted and checked both birds. She said that they were in excellent health, and that the injury on the wing was over a year old. Nothing they could do. Meaning, it happened at LEAST right before I left for FL. The other day was my first time back after getting home to TX. She was very sweet, and decided it was best to leave the pair. There was nothing they could do for her as it was, and they seemed content. Told me to keep an eye on her, and call them back if it got to the point her condition deteriorated.
As for the messy looking feathers under the wings? It appears to have been a predator attack of some sort that she survived. Lots of scar tissue. I will post more pictures later, got so caught up today when I went out there that I forgot to take any!
I will definitely keep everyone updated on these two as time goes by. They are my favorite of this particular park. I love, love, LOVE the sounds/calls they make. Going to take my good camera out and get some 'in action' pictures of them.
