What are they supposed to smell like? BTW, the eggs cool down super fast when she gets up. Like, SUPER fast. Maybe 2 to 3 minutes? Are you they bad?

My guess is yes, they are bad, as far as the smell. If they are rotten, YOU"LL KNOW..

I had a call duck sit on 4 eggs and one duckling fell prey before I could save it. That was a couple years ago.

I was just reading the whole thread of this "birthing" event! Gads! I don't think I could hatch eggs, I couldn't handle the drama! LOL

Glad it ended well. Were the remaining eggs "bad"? Y'all never said.

Yes, the remaining eggs were bad. The ducklings are adults now and have just hatched some eggs of their own, I will post pics later.

My question is did the male do good with the babies? We have a male and female mallard and she's got some due any day and our male is real protective of her when she's on her nest.

The males were the best dad ducks I have ever seen.

The way the protect the mother and babies is so cute! He walked around with the mom and always came back to the nest to check on the nest. When the babies hatched he was a great dad, and so is the new dad of the new ducklings that hatched this week.
