Duck Pond Questions!

One thing that helps a pond stay clean is having half of the pond reserved for vegetation. Now you may have to fence off the vegetation though or it will just end up being snacks

As for fish, larger fish would be fine. Small fish are also considered snacks by ducks.

This isn't exactly what you are looking for but there is some good info here...

The advice is great. I will have to look into what kind of fish and plants to put in, but I will definitly be putting in a solar powered fountain of some sort to agitate the water. Also I will be making it between 5 and 15 feet deep for the pond as that will bring in the water. I want it clean looking in a natural sence, so lots of nice vegetation without it looking over grown.
The way our township works out here is you have to have a plan sketched out before you even apply for a permit, but the suggestion to look into finding a wildlife conservationist was a great idea.
Awesome.
This pond will be for the ducks first, my husband second, so what ever will give the best ecological balance is what we will go with.
