Okay so i currently have about 10 hens, 5 roosters, 4 guineas and 4 ducks! We have a small pond about 3 foot deep and 4 ft in diameter! I understand that ducks are messy animals but i just want to know what is the safest and healthiest way to keep up with the pond for them... im not really worried about it looking pretty i just want it to be safe for them... i thought about a kiddie pool but we were afraid the ducks wouldnt be able to get out of it... so we build the pond with a slight slope so that the ducks can walk in and out of it... and we have to keep them pinned up because we dont want the chickens to get in and drowned... please help!

I don't know how old your chickens are but they should be smart enough not to drown themselves. Mine were utterly fascinated with the pond and wander about it constantly. They've yet to commit suicide.

Can you post a picture of your pond??

I just built a pond and have pics and my filter method on my thread Quacker Shack

Most people will just tell you to get a pump and pump the water out into your garden when it gets bad. That's probably the easiest way.

adult chickens shouldnt drown, however if you have a trouble making drake or a naughty goose a pond can be a great place (to them at least) to play dunk the chicken.

Oh my goodness. I could just see my ducks herding the chickens to their demise. lol Horrible.
