If you want to be able to change the water without lifting a heavy pool full of water, you can make a siphon with your water hose. Just put the hose in the pool, turn it on for a few seconds, then turn it off and unscrew the end from your spicket. The water should drain. You can use the dirty water to water your plants or grass. I have a sump pump that I use to drain the water because it is faster. Then I can easily lift the pool to rinse out since it is empty. I just have a plastic kiddy pool from Walmart. I didn't buy my pump because my husband got it from his grandpa's house after he passed away. I Googled it and it doesn't look like they sell this exact one anymore, but it is a Water Dragon Submersible Utility Pump.

Good post but I'd like to add one thing. When you put the hose (take off the nozzle) in the pool put it at the deepest part of the pool and weigh it down with something (I use a brick). If that end of the hose floats up and hits the air the siphon won't work!

Yep that did happen a lot, I keep a little brick by the pool!

I have a small kiddie pool and a 45 g stock tank that I installed a pip on so I could drain it easily when it gets super nasty... the pool I just let the water run in it till it cleans it mostly out. If that doesnt work, dump and refill every few days.

Following for ideas. I have a kiddie pool but I don't want to dig a hole for it. I want to have it slightly elevated with a drain of some sort for easier cleaning/draining.

Put it on a pallet and insert a bulk head in the bottom with a hose or pvc pipe running out to a valve on the outside. 1.5" or 2" pvc would be ideal to prevent the pipes from clogging. You will be able to find ball valves of this size at a big box hardware store, but you may need top order the bulk heads online as they are not as common. You could find them on Amazon though.

And the worst part is having to sick your arm in the nasty water to place the brick on the hose!

Haha! My new dog goes into the duck house and rubs his face and shoulders all over the straw to put some “product” in his hair. I call it the hair salon!
