Duck question

I am new to the duck and chicken world. I have a male and female duck. Daisy has laid 13 eggs and started sitting today. Donald is very protective of her. We had to separate the lil ducks we got given to us cause he would attack them. Will he be protective of his lil ones or should I separate him before she hatches the eggs?

It's always a good idea to keep papa separate from mama and ducklings at least till ducklings are up moving around good and can get out of his way. I have ducklings coming end of the month and will keep all my drakes and ducks and geese and chickens away from them and mama with fencing till they are a couple weeks old.
