Hi! I got my husband two mallards from tractor supply for valentines. Not sure if the age an both are eating an chirping away, but I noticed crustys on them today. One it's starting to show around the back of the feathers by the eye an neck an the other had it in between its wings. I washed (gently) them off but was still wondering as to some guidance. Bedding is changed ruglarly an water to. Read about a chamomile wash an may try that. Thank you.

. Would it be possible to get a picture of the crustys?

These are the best shots I could get
Are they able to wash their faces it's very important for water fowl to be able to wash their eyes and nares out alot. cute lil babies too. heres a link to how to make a waterer for ducklings out of butter, yogurt or cool whip container, the important thing is the top and how it's cut out to keep ducklings from climbing in but large enough for them to be able to dunk their heads. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/313746/larger-face-wash-bucket-for-ducklings

No that is not normal. It looks extremely red and raw. Is it just the 2 ducklings together? Any other animals have contact with them? Kids? What are you using for a waterer? How low is your heat lamp? Anything in the brooder with rough edges?

If they aren't picking on each other than it could be irritation from rubbing on something.
