Duck sick help please

It happens in domestic ducklings there may just be one that isn't processing the nutrients properly and needs extra help whether it's feed or vitamins . Hard to say if this is what is happening with your little one because Mergansers aren't domestic. But I sure enjoyed reading up on them. They really are pretty. Might want to consider getting some type of insects for these little ones. as their main diet and just have the game bird as back up. I wonder if you can buy feed for wild ducks Strombergs comes to mind.

They are very cool birds. Yes there main diet is water based protein. They take time when getting them to eat crumb but it is possible. We will be putting them in a pond with minnows once they get older along with feed being also available. I have been wondering if this is something that has happened out of my control but still makes a person wonder if there is something else I can do. I hate losing a bird never makes a person good.

Sometimes it is out of our control but we still try our best to help as long as they are living. If you can put this duckling in a small area so it won't hurt it self add feed and water with vitamins in it. Like your doing maybe even place it inside a donut shaped nest so it remains upright and isn't going in circles. Is it able to eat at all? Crickets can be bought minnows can be bought or found if you have a water source ? maybe start adding more protein to their diet.

Yup the chick is separated and has been eating. It runs in circles falling and tumbling until it sees you then sits and just becomes a bobble head. It still has spunk but just acts crazy.

Sorry for the delay just got back from vacation. So the hoodie is alive but no improvement. So here it goes. It’s been on nutritional yeast mealworms and starter crumb. It is also on vitamin water. It eats and drink but can’t swim on its own. It has been given tylon a couple of times. It only walks backward and holds its head in awkward positions upside down and on its back is common. We are wondering if it’s wry neck but don’t know for sure. If it is how soon should recovery take? How long does a person continue to carry it through life? Just hard to watch it suffer is all. Anymore ideas?

I have a guy that has similar stuff to yours. He likely has wry neck. I have been doing vitamin b complex, nutri-drench, and vitamin e mix with mine. I saw improvement in about 8 hours where the crazy neck stuff got better. I have also been doing messages on his neck when I feed him his vitamin mix.

It seems not all wry neck is fixed by just vitamin b but some need e too. But be careful on the amount you give because unlike vitamin b, vitamin e isn’t water soluble so you can give too much. I have been doing 100mg gel cap in a 36 hour period. And the b complex is supposed to be 1-3 ml depending in if you have the inhectable liquid from tsc or the human stuff from Walmart.
