Duck suddenly died - what can I do to protect the rest of my flock?

She hasn't laid an egg since March - do you really think that it was that?
Without a necropsy, no one, not even a vet can say for sure what the cause of death was. There are so many possibilities, especially since you mentioned a yellow/green poop and the brownish-red mucus. Are you brave? Do you want to try doing your own necropsy?

If you want, I can give you some pointers on doing necropsies. I have done a few and I have processed some ducks, so I might be able to help you figure out what the cause of death was. If it was something like ascites or cancer, that's pretty easy to spot.

is there any thing they can give to the rest of the flock say as a immune system booster?
I don't think you need to worry about the flock if they all are acting normal.

I've lost quite a few to egg laying issues and they don't normally go from fine one day to dead in a day or two. They usually start losing weight and start acting off *long* before death.

I'm so sorry, I wish I could say exactly what happened and how to fix it. I am thinking something went wrong on the inside, probably related to egg laying, since there were no symptoms of sickness leading up to her sudden death. So hopefully it was a rare occurrence and the rest of your flock is safe. Wishing you the best.

Seriously the way you described her was classic egg laying issues. Nothing is wrong with the others.
Sad she passed but didn't suffer long.
Thanks - hopefully her ailment was self-contained. I will get some mutri drench and keep an eye on everyone else. Thanks for everyone's concern and good wishes.
