Hello! I am a proud new duck and chicken owner, but have ran into an issue with one of my poor little duckies. We have had them now for 8 weeks since getting them as babies at tractor supply. Around week 3 or 4 one of our babies starting limping. We could see no wounds or anything to indicate a problem. A few days or a week later she was doing much better, then bam a few days later back to limping and much worse. Now we notice her ankle is swollen and she can now not even open her flapper, and she was starting to go lame. We have been substituting niacin now and she is a bit better, her feathers look better and her eyes are more open, but her foot is still swollen. She walks on her 'forearm' part of her leg and not the foot. I am wondering if she may need antibiotics? I still see no sign of a wound, but im not sure what else it could be, unless a lack of niacin has caused a deformity? She is underdeveloped compared to her partner, which we got at the same time and grew up in all the same conditions. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to BYC, sorry your duck has this problem. Is a vet an option?
Thank you! Low on money, but i need to call them back for my cat needs shots, so I was going to ask them what they think and what the cost to help might be and get it all done in the same day. She is getting around well and doesnt seem to be in pain, but i just feel horrible for the little thing :(
