Duck trouble

Okay today he is doing much better but he is still having a little trouble but for some reason my crested duck wont leave him alone he always tires to poke him
Seems they always want to pick on one if they are a little off. if he keeps it up give it time out. Sounds good though that your still seeing steady improvements. Keep up the TLC.

Yea but sometimes even when I put him in the coop only for time out he goes again and starts poking him again

I have often heard stories about this kind of thing and I wonder if some ducks don't just have a bad habit of picking on a duck that doesn't feel good. Some human siblings are like that, too, just poke, poke, poke.

Okay sorry I haven't been keeping you guys updated well he my duck hasn't improved anymore he still cant do anything I don't what to do anymore

I'm so sorry to hear this, can you again sum up all you have done so far? And just a side note, Jumbo Pekins as you probably know where developed to be raised for slaughter, big bird for the table, now folks are raising them as pets and most of the time don't realize what their purpose was when they were developed, So saying all that means these birds were not intended to live long they are very large which means it takes a lot for their legs to hold up under the weight, [think meat birds] they are meant to live for just about 10-12 weeks I believe. I'm thinking his legs have given up holding his weight, and from what a friend told me about Jumbo Pekins is keeping the weight down is about all you can do to keep them going. Don't feed corn at all. big weight gain using it, give poultry vitamins every day for nutrients and try not to over feed maybe instead of free feeding offer feed 3X a day as much as he can eat then take the bowl away. Are you giving him water therapy? that's very important to give his legs time to build up strength. I'm not saying give up on him just realize to try and get him mobile again you may have to change some things in his life. It's a commitment for sure.

Well I gave him water therapy everyday twice a dag for 30 min then I would let him sit around for a while I feed them twice daily and I've been putting niacin in his water everyday

Don't discontinue the niacin, but give him a good vitamin/mineral mix, vionate, I believe is one. But anything that ensures he's getting what he needs will work and continue the water therapy. I would separate him out if he's getting picked on. Like others have said. Good luck with him, hope he recovers.
