How deep does a duck waterer have to be? I know it has to be deep enough to rinse their nares...but....How deep is that?

Depend on the size of the ducks. I'm assuming you are getting some ducklings by your other post. Maybe this will help
This lasted a week and it's a small sour cream container

This was after a few days when they started to make a mess of it. Those are pine pellets around the water to absorb the mess

This waterer is what I have now and has been working for a few weeks. Before this one and after the sour cream container I used a cool whip container with a hole in the lid.

Thanks for the great ideas! Bet having the lid on really helps.
