When I had guinea pigs, I used the horse stall pellets for bedding. It was great. But, I thought the ducks or chickens might eat them if I used them in their set up. My drake picked up a tiny chunk of wood that was in the rocks just the other day- swirled it in his mouth, dropped it, and picked it up again before I could see what he had. When I looked it was a small piece of wood from where we had sawed to make the chicken coop. Maybe they would test it first and see that it has no taste?I started this system after the ducks were adult. I understand the concern with ducks eating them, since some ducks eat all kinds of things bad for them
Mine show no interest in eating sawdust pellets, thank goodness. I suppose you could cover them with an old towel.....
