I noticed a couple days ago one of my Call duck hens was acting a little out of sorts. When I was able to catch her I found her entire vent area was crusted over with poop. I tried to clean it of and realized that most of it actually looks like dead tissue surrounding the vent. Underneath is moist healthy looking tissue but it's very inflamed. I have been trying to clean it the past two days and kept her separate and applying bacitracin after flushing it. I have no idea what it could be at this point and it's not improving. She is eating and drinking and I have her in a pool to soak it a little.

She is 1 yr old but I don't think she's started laying yet this spring. Im guessing this problem has been going on for a while.

There is some poop blocking her vent when I picked her up I removed it after taking this picture. You can see the large scabs of dead tissue and underneath it's pink. I am afraid to rip off any more of the scabs.

Could I do Epsom salt bath with her? I know it will be very painful for her.

I'm concerned that she has an infection in her intestinal tract causing the issue on the vent. Could I give her duramycin or another antibiotic?

It cleaned up pretty nicely. Do you think I should still give her antibiotics? I just don't know what caused it...

UPDATE:
I checked on her this morning and she laid an egg! However there was a bit of blood on the egg and surrounding her vent. It looks like it crusted over again☹️.
@Eggcessive do you think I should try antibiotics? I can try and get some photos later but I really just looks like it's starting to crust over the way it was before.
