Pretty sure they would splint it, but not sure what type of splint they would use. Do not try to splint. Doing it incorrectly will cause more harm than good.

Poor girl!! Might be chipped or fractured, alough if blood is appearing under the skin, it may be worse.. I agree, she should go to a vet.

Ah, okay. I wasn't sure if they would splint a fracture or not. I agree @Silkiesarefluffydinos -- It's probably a pretty bad fracture if there's blood under the skin. Great pics @casportpony!

I'm guessing they'll give her pain meds and antibiotics, and will want me to keep her confined for several weeks as well.

I have some good news. The swelling has gone down (Epsom Salt soaks are amazing) and she is starting to walk on her foot again. But I have an appointment to see the vet at 2:45 just to make sure it's going to be fine. So hopefully it goes well.

And man, can that girl eat. She gorges herself like she's eating at a buffet. So there's no problems there. She's the biggest out of the Welshie girls. I don't usually feed them free-choice because of how much they eat (and they're still a good size). So she's really liking this.

Just got finished at the vet. I'm happy to say that it's just a trauma injury completely unrelated to the surgery and the dark patch is just a bruise that will heal. So they gave us some pain meds and antibiotics (because joint infections are common in ducks), and told us to keep her isolated for a few weeks. I can't believe the difference in her foot compared to yesterday!! She's running all over the place like nothing happened. I swear, they somehow heal themselves up faster when they know they have to go to the vet.

Here is a thread with pics of Gucky's 7 little babies and the story about how they surrvived Hurricane Irma. There are 5 Pekin/Welsh Harlequin crossed ducklings and 2 Pearl guineas that somehow got in there. (They're 8 weeks old now.)
