in Arizona that is always very good possibility I haven't seen any marks as of yet on him but I'm looking as we speak actually you think it he could have a yeast infection in his throat for an impacted crop there's nothing Frankie about his eyes it's not that looks any different than it did when I got them his nose is clear and still not wanting to eatBaby may have an infection going on any way a vet is an option? Getting an vet to examine him may he needs an antibiotic. His throat is swollen? Could he have been bitten by something?

common sense is to start with niacin for any growing waterfowl that is having issues walking. Yes, this bird also has the respiratory issue which may be separate or may be related, but as there is no harm in supplemental niacin at the recommended dosage, please do use it. All birds are individuals just like people, some need more than others. My one drake out of my batch last year could barely stand and yet they were all on the same food etc with no one else having any issues. You treat to effect.
And making blanket statements about veterinarians or anyone else is just... uneducated. Most vets now, with the pandemic situation, as long as they have some knowledge of your animals, are willing to do phone/email/text consultations. So pictures, video, descriptions, and a discussion of the situation are all on the table for most vets.
Also, all of the people on here that are expressing their opinions are doing just that. None of them claim to be veterinarians, and none of them claim to know everything. Everyone here speaks from their own personal experiences.
there can be many reasons for the respiratory difficulty unrelated to the walking issue. It could be a bacterial or fungal infection, hardware disease from eating something he shouldn’t have, congestive heart failure, viral... and the list goes on. It also may be related. Perhaps he is painful; many animals will pant when in pain. A careful look at his legs and feet would be warranted if it doesn’t stress him out too much.
The eye discharge makes me lean more towards an upper respiratory issue, whether bacterial, fungal, or otherwise.
do you have a veterinarian that you can at least call and discuss the situation with? Not that many vets handle poultry but some would be willing to take a stab at it, with the understanding they’re not experts.![]()
