Duckings arrived in terrible shape!

More ducklings arrived yesterday and this time they were all up and peeping when we opened the box! I’m so relieved. They came a day quicker than the others, had extra food, and were in a priority box. And we got 4! A surprise rouen was in the box. Probably because we reported that our first was in bad shape, but I thought we were supposed to call back if she died. Maybe we mis-communicated or they just added a duckling? So now we have 7 which is probably too many ducks, but we’ll make room! The bigger ducklings are curious but they’re separate for now.

It may have food or a feather stuck in its nostril (nare) give it some water deep enough for it to submerge its whole beak.

I thought that too..they have a deep enough bowl for them to dunk up past their eyes..and i gave them a shallow dish to swim in the last 2 days...I just really don't want it to be a male sound..my drake lost his brother and these girls were for his company..I dont want him to have competition..

We had a similar experience with chicks last week. We ordered from Meyer in Ohio, we are in WI. Last year our chicks were delivered in 2 days, all happy and healthy. This year it took 3 days with most chicks being weak or dead when we got them. The most frustrating part was USPS did not have any tracking until the third day then all of a sudden the tracking updates for the last 2 days of stops. It is frustrating as all getup and talking to the hatcheries they are seeing it all the time. We are trying to get chicks from McMurray which is in IA. The hatchery is a 4 hour drive away but yet it is a 2 day delivery which is crazy. I wish UPS or FedEx would start delivering poultry.

Here are my girls at 3 weeks.
