Pretty sure it's a rat snake

Stupid question, but how exactly should I clean it? I have been looking for something that tells me how to know if they are in shock and how to help that...but I can't seem to find anything. I am wondering if this little baby has a punctured lung, or something....I can hear it breathing. Not like a wheeze, or anything, but just a tiny noise when it inhales or exhales. Should I be worried about it getting cold? Or too hot? It's like 93 degrees today and humid

Wash it out well with warm saline. Do you have veterycin spray for wounds and infections? I would keep it in overnight just to make sure it is okay and that flies don't get to the wound. I had a blk rat snake get hold of a Muscovy duckling at 2 days old didn't bite it thank goodness but it was strangling it to death when I found them. I kept him in overnight to to make sure he was okay next day I put him back with mama and she accepted him back with no problem. You want to keep the duckling where no flies can get that the wound or you'll have maggots and for one so tiny that would not be good. Can you get a better picture of the wound you can trim the down some so you can clean the wound better too. At 93* I don't think it's going to get cold.

I was beaten to it! Just like @Miss Lydia said clean the wound with saline, then apply the veterycin. Keep it inside so you can have a close eye on it. Hope your baby gets better

The pic I took doesn't do the hole justice. It is a hole, in the pic it looks like a cut. Omg this is horrible. I can't stand to see anything suffer. I'll try to trim the down and get it cleaned up. I'll also try to get a better pic. Can't I make saline solution? And yes I have vetericyn to spray on it. I already sprayed a little on it in a panicked frenzy, 🙄 . I'm wondering about it going into shock and how to know if it does and how to help it?

Rinse the wound with clean water and add plain antibiotic cream to the injury. (Please note that pain relief cream has too much medicine, so it has to be plain antibiotic.)
