Duckling Cam!

@dotknott
went to cam and thought I'd see hatched ducklings is cam up and running? How is everyone coming along?
I'm sorry to say that I don't know! I had to leave to travel for a curling tournament this weekend. My husband says that 04-10 hatched last night, but the others have not done anything.

Update: Lost the curling match this AM, so I didn't have a game in the afternoon. I was able to drive back home help 2 more ducks to hatch and get all four of them on their way to Maine. One of the two eggs that didn't seem to be doing anything pipped. AGAIN from the wrong end! I've got to drive back up tonight to curl again at 8AM tomorrow, but I probably won't be able to come back tomorrow.

Thanks for watching! This has been the MOST stressful hatch EVER. 6/7 eggs pipped 5/6 of those were mis-pips and every one has needed an assist. If the rest of the breeding season goes like this I'm going to sell my 'bators and decide that broody poops are worth it.

I hope you have a victory tomorrow with the curling.

Update: We had no victories, but we had TONS of fun and got to watch lots of GREAT curling.

Last night my husband assisted another duckling who hatched sometime overnight, but her called me this morning in a panic because the membrane was stuck to the duckling still and he didn't know what to do for the poor little guy. The other duckling was still in the shell and breathing and peeping, but my husband was afraid to help that one out after the other one got membrane stuck to him.

I came home this afternoon and washed the membrane off with a warm facecloth and helped the last duckling hatch. The last one seems to be struggling with his legs a little, but I gave him a drop of nutridrench and once he fluffs up I'll make shoes for him if he's still having problems with his feet uncurling.

@dotknott. Thank you so much for putting this hatch up for all of us to watch. To just like doing it ourselves, only there was a big giant hand that came down and moved things around at times.

There were several USA curling matches on tv Fri and Sat. It is si interesting to watch. Glad you had a good time.

Give hubs a hug for us for his help, mine would never do that.

@dotknott Sorry you did get a victory but sounds like a lot of fun..

I enjoyed watching the duckling cam too. It's such a treat to watch a hatch..

Thanks again and happy the last 2 made it out. Well looks like 1 is still working on it. So precious.

This is so cool! My husband, kids, and I all had our nose glues to the screen watching that last one come out. Thanks @dotknott. Such an awesome thread!

Thanks for all the kind words! It gives me the warm and fuzzies to know that folks enjoy the live stream as much as I enjoy putting it together.

Update: The last duckling hatched with wry neck. Whipped up an electrolyte + vitamin solution yesterday afternoon and dosed a few drops. It seems to be doing better this morning, though may still need a shoe.

ETA: Next hatch in 1 week, and next bonspiel this weekend!
