Duckling colors

Thank you all for your input on this. I really do appreciate all the comments. I will love them no matter WHAT they are of course! I'm just surprised at how far off they are from what I ordered. I also read that the runner ducks are prolific layers. I'm not sure where I got that they were moderate layers! As much as it doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things, I am happy that they are good layers besides being beautiful! Perhaps I am luckier than I thought!

My sister wanted 2 of the 4 khakis we ordered. Now I don't want to give her ANY.

But I think she's going to get the khaki and a blue runner. I'm not sure now!

Just out of curiosity, how do they screw something like this up?  As much as I LOVE them!  And will be happy no matter what they turn out to be, I really DID want the Khaki Campells (and so did my sister, and there were supposed to be FOUR of them) because they are #1 GREAT layers and #2 very pretty and sweet!  That kind of annoys me. I would think that if you sell ducklings you should be able to pick out the orders correctly.  I SPECIAL ordered the ducklings. :th

Wow! Just so u know, TSC seems to mess up a lot. I can't believe ur special order was messed up. Sorry :(.

Pic #2 I am 99.9% sure is KC
I also think I see 2 Fawn & White Runners + 3 blue Runners. (Of which I am jealous, bcz I can't find blue runners locally).

Remember, a KC is a hybrid of a Rouen and a Runner, so it is very possible to get a KC hatchling that is not the breed standard, it could just be the hatchery's breeding stock hatched out "KCs" that are not breed standard. Just so you know, my Runner is an excellent layer, and your ducklings look beautiful, healthy, and happy. I would be thrilled to have them.

Oh, believe me I am thrilled! Although I was hoping they would be friendlier. I sang to them all the time to calm them down. And it would work. But now that they are in the coop and run - they run away from me even if I LOOK in their direction. The chickens are more curious and interested, so I can occasionally catch one of them.

If I could find my camera I would take a more recent picture (hopefully someday soon) and show you how they've "blossomed". The Blue Runners are much darker blue grey (3), the white one looks almost completely white but has a grey bill which is making crazy trying to figure out what "type" of Indian Runner it is! And the grey one is more and more silver every day. If it were a lavender runner, would it really LOOK lavender or silver/grey?

I meant that I sang to them all the time when they were little to calm them down (in the brooder) and it would work all the time!

I believe the lavender and silver runners are actually somewhere between a spectrum or white to gray, while their beaks are darker. You can Google "silver runner duck" or "lavender runner duck" and see what I'm talking about.

I've never actually seen either (and I can't help but wonder if they are the same thing even though they are called differently?).

Ooh, I can't wait for new pictures!

Here is the white runner duck that has the grey bill. I think she's beautiful!

Here she is again.

.

This is my silver/grey runner.

I was trying to get a clear shot of the Blue Indian Runner (The one in the middle with the dark wing). We JUST discovered today HE is a DRAKE!
We got rid of our Pekin drake last year because I didn't want fertilized eggs (I sell my eggs) AND he was constantly mating with one of the 3 females and he was hurting her.
I can't see how I can keep this guy, so I'm going to start looking for a home for him. I do hate to separate them.....

Wow, they are beautiful! The white and gray ones are such unique colors! And the blue is lovely too :)

How long does it take for you to sell your eggs, once they've been laid? I've never sold eggs, but I didn't think that them being fertilized would cause any problems.

Since I only have 2 ducks that lay right now, it takes a good week to get a full dozen. They weren't laying everyday, but seem to since the drake was taken out of the picture. I have a couple of friends that buy them right now, but would like to start taking them to the local farm store once the young ones start laying. I don't mind a fertilized egg for myself - doesn't make a big deal. Mainly I don't like the constant mating to be honest. I know it's natural, but it get ridiculous. It's bad enough that the girls do it to each other, too! Well, they don't really MATE, just the process up TO it.

And thank you, I think they are very sweet, too. Very pretty.
