Duckling Diaries: the Life and Times of a Welshie Trio

I recently just finished "Salt: A World History" on audiobook (had read it before) and "Consider the Fork." Now I'm picking back up a thread from some earlier reads (The Map that Changed the World, Atlantic, and The island of lost maps), I'm currently reading A History of the World in 12 Maps. Fascinating so far.

(I like audiobooks of things I have read/heard before for when I do long hauls of hours and hours of yard work or outdoor chores/building).

Since we are confessing . . . I work at a school too. I am a . . . wait for it. . . . lunch lady :oops:I know sad right.

Honest work is never sad. :thumbsup
Agree.

I was a lonely bullied kid who should have been about two grades above where I was. My lunch lady was my best friend for at least two years. I think lunch ladies/cafeteria worker folks were my favorite folks from elementary school.

Sounds interesting. I also like to read the real book before listening to audio.
I recently read "Shackleton's Boat Journey"... Incredible tale of survival.

Aww thanks guys. It is harder than people think it is following regulations and paper work that is so stupid. I'm the kitchen "manager" so they call me. I say that means I'm just the scapegoat for anything that goes wrong lol I do love the kids but the younger ones are just growing up so disrespectful any more I wanna spank their buts.

That sounds fascinating! I have in my bedside table pile "Where the sea breaks its back" (about Russian exploration of Alaska). I think I got it out of the bibliography of Atlantic. It's in the pile. There's a BIG pile.

I'm taking a number of days off in the next week or two (as I can) - because I'll lose vacation time if I don't (there;s only so many days you can carry over). I have a TON of stuff to do with household and cooking.putting up and chickens, but I'm also hoping to get some of this reading done as well.

Oh, and also reading First Bite (a gift from my mother, who loved it - same author as Consider the Fork).

Ugh. That must take a lot of patience.

But let me put it this way, if it at all matters: I am almost 50 years old, and I have never forgotten the lady who collected the lunch trays in the cafeteria, who let me hang out with her for the rest of the lunch period. I was about 7 or 8 years old. She was kind to me, and I have never ever forgotten it.

I kinda think that's why we are here - to make a difference. And you can find a way to do it no matter what you spend your time doing in life. :thumbsup

Wish their parents would.

Let me know what it's like. I have so many books I want to read, and so little time.

Sounds like you all like reading a lot of historical stuff. I can only handle so much of that. I like mystery and even some Steven king, I do like biography or just stories about people's lives in general. I also like some religion stuff like Joseph Prince, his book destined to reign changed my life. I also read the shack a long time ago before it was a movie and it was pretty life changing too.
