Duckling dying? please help!

"The Wall" only has extended release or flush niacin as i figured... is there one that is better just to hold them over until i can get the real stuff at my vitamin shop? or would it be a better idea just to wait until tomorrow morning?

Brewer's Yeast is an alternative, but she would have to eat (you sprinkle it on their food) and I think it's harder to know how much niacin she's actually getting. Any vitamin stores around? I'm worried about her lasting through the night, but she might make it!

ETA: flush-free or time release goes through their bodies before it has time to be absorbed

would the slow release stuff be okay for now until i can get to a vitamin store in the morning? all the ones around here are closed unfortunately...

I definitely agree with making a 'slop' with her food. I didn't have any niacin but did have rice bran (for the horses) which I mushed up with some regular food and some water and she loved it. Maybe an easier way for her to eat if she's weak - similar to how we like soup when we're sick ?? Who knows. You can also google what foods are high in niacin and see if she'll eat those to tide you over until you can get to a store

actually nevermind. there was a tiny tiny bottle of "flush free" 50mg in some random generic brand. is that what i want? it was hidden behind the rest and is the only one here....

Good idea!!!

Pick up some brewers yeast if you can and put about a Tablespoon in a wet sloppy feed and see if you can get her to eat some of that. Maybe it will at least help until you can get the niacin in the morning.

I don't know why I didn't think of that! I feed all my animals fermented feed which is wet all the time.

Does the store carry brewer's yeast? That could be moistened into a paste with a little water then a quarter teaspoon of the paste dissolved in a half a cup of water. This is not scientific, I am just thinking of what I would do.

edited - we may be onto something...all posted similar ideas at the same time.

Another shared idea. Tuna has niacin in it. I would get tuna in water - not broth, not oil, no extra salt, just water. And I would smash a teaspoon of it in a quarter cup of water and see if she'd drink that. Unsalted fish broth.

No, nothing that says "flush-free", "no-flush", or "time release". Are you able to find some brewer's yeast and follow the above instructions that were posted?

oh good lord i read that wrong. if the bottle says "flush" on it, then does that mean i want it? because they have that here too!
