Duckling dying! Urgent! Please help!

Since Issac mentioned vitamin deficentlcies, maybe not having the niacin in the feed is an issue? I really hope she pulls through make sure she is not being fed medicated feed. I am 13 so I am very proud of you for taking her lively hood into your own hands!

I really appreciate all the support I have been given. It’s really hard to think straight in these situations.

Alright, well you are doing the best you can, and get some niacin out there and this is very important, make sure they have a pool to dunk the heads in. They have to get their whole heads in there at least. This is important to make sure they can clear out there ducts. Keep us posted, Avery

My dad said the duck ate a little while outside and he has called five vets and no one will take us. We are looking in to the materials for tube feeding

Good, if he is eating a little bit, try syringe feeding first. Take the parotte mixture or some softened chick food with niacin and put it in a syringe that will fit in her beak. Squeeze a dollop of mush on the inside of her beak and see if she will suck it down. Do the same thing with some sugar water. Offer mushy food rather then hard feed so it will be easier to eat than hard food. If he sin't eating the food you put in his mouth then you will have to do the tube feeding. Good luck, Avery

I've been feeding Mazuri for years. Their waterfowl starter is really good feed. Something is definitely not right here. Nutritional yeast has more niacin. Where are you located?

I am in New Jersey. We just had two at first but then we got one more that ended up having something wrong with it. They loved the Mazuri food so I was pretty sure that was not the problem.

To me, it does look like her nervous system is affected and it's causing her not to be able to perceive her environment clearly, thus causing the "drunk" looking movements. She really needs to be taken inside, and put in a quiet, dimly lit, soft padded area with a feed and water dish provided, after she has had time to stabilize a bit, try dripping a few drops of a poultry vitamin or electrolyte along her bill.

Quite unlikely these birds would be niacin deficient if they're being fed Mazuri feed.
