Duckling Feed and 1 Million Other Questions

Oh wow, there is a ton of great knowledge here to synthesize! I did read about feeding 3x daily in Storey’s Guide to Raising Ducks! After making this post and attempting to follow any kind of schedule, I’ve since totally given up on the idea. Holy are they loud and demanding if they’re hungry! Haha. Instead, I’ve opted to just refresh and refill their feed in the morning, and when I take them out mid-afternoon I do the same and also supplement with lettuce and peas. Around dinner time, I’ll refresh and refill once more. This way, the squawking is manageable and they don’t seem starving, but do get to the bottom of the feeder.

The weather here is finally warming up, so tomorrow will be their first outside adventure. I’m super excited!

Thanks again for all the input!

First bath day here!

Okay, one more question along the lines of feeding... My ducks will be going out with the chickens between five and six weeks of age. At this point are they allowed to eat the same food as the chickens? Our chickens will just be on a generic mix of poultry feed, vegetables, and grit.

Depends what you feed your chickens! Poultry feed is not specific enough.
