I took the ducklings on their first "field trip" this past Friday.
First they weren't sure how to react so everyone just huddled together and checked out their new surroundings. Left to right: Anastasia, Emrys, Saphira, Morgana and Lena.
Then they discovered that I had put a water dish in the pen that they could play in. I don't have pics of it but at one point all 5 were squished in it together.
Then Emrys, who is the shyest and least adventurous of all the ducklings, decided to talk to Merle who is LAZY, laid back and sleeps more than any puppy I've ever met. (She sniffed him and went back to doing what she does best-sleeping!)
And today I went out to check on our newest chicks (Bantam/Cochin mix) and saw the cutest thing:
I hadn't intended on having any chicks this year but hubs kind of let it happen... and not with just one hen-there are currently 3 other hens sitting on one nest together
I was trying to reduce the number of chickens we had. Some of them will be going to new homes in the near future (when they're old enough)!
