Duckling hatch along?

18 Call eggs started today. Found a nest of 4 this morning, laid by my nutmeg girl, I think, so those went in too

I should have a Cayuga duckling hatched in a couple hours!

Oh. . and. . I don't think I told you all. I have turkey eggs in my incubator!
Not for me to keep. . I am incubating them for my niece. Their Tom was allegedly eating the eggs and she wanted babies.
I hope they hatch!

Well. .This was sweet while it lasted.
Pip sat all day hatching the duckling. .tiny her co broody was in and out sitting part time.
Tiny wasn't there when the baby hatched. .but I knew it had hatched when they all went running over to see. .
Tiny went inside and started rolling the rest of the eggs away from the hatchling. . pip noodled the baby a bit . .I thought she was just trying to clean it off. But then she started striking at it. . making it cry. Then tiny started in and it turned into a tug of war.
They almost killed it before I intervened.
I think they were fighting over it?

Here they were minutes before the pecking and tug of war began. They both participated in rolling all the eggs over to the corner away from the duckling. When that was done the attack happened.

You have it inside now. Crazy ducks I had one attack her duckling when he hatched I do believe if I hadn’t of taken him away she’d have killed him.

Yep. Another single indoor duck.
It had a tiny bit of open navel. . maybe that's what got them pecking at it? They were also eating the nasty stuff in the empty shell.
Cannibals!
