Duckling hatching - in lockdown

What kind of heat source do you have?
I think above you called it a brooder... I'm not sure what that is. Do you have a thermometer you can place under the heat source to double check that it isn't too hot?

You can put uncooked white rice in a sock... Tie it in a knot and microwave it for just a few seconds (about 30 in my microwave) until it's warm ... Not hot and place it in the brooder.

Ok cool, nice idea! We are now knocking on our neighbours doors to try and find some rice

The heat source is a warming plate? Pic below. Doesn't feel too hot at all - cooler than incubator.

Ducklings seem to have settled more now and are sleeping cuddled up in a corner. Think sock beanbag to cuddle will be awesome though :D

Yes it’s my first time hatching ducks too. Your little ones are so adorable. My first is on her way too! She seems to be taking a break now so I don’t know if I should stay up and wait or just check in the morning..

Ooo how's she doing now?! Once my two got to that stage they were pretty quick. What type of ducks are yours?

Sorry more help needed please! 3rd egg just hatched (after 4 days of lockdown!). We assumed other 3 eggs were no good so did final candling. 2 were all liquid so have binned them. But one has made a tiny external pip adn can see movement inside! But pip is not in air sac but at opposite end :barnie

Is that ok? Guessing still best to leave alone for now? But has been on lockdown with no turning etc for so long... Is that really bad? Wondering if eggs farmer gave us were all set at different times or something as we got them part-incubated.
Thank you!!!
