Duckling hatching trouble now bubbles coming from nostrils

I had a duckling that had pipped and been poking his bill out for about 12 hours. Looked like he was struggling to breathe so I helped peel a little of the shell back. 2 hours later he hatched but was really, really covered in goo. Now 2 hours after hatching he is breathing very heavy and has goo bubbles coming from his nostrils. Is there anything I can do to help him? I'm scared to take him out of the incubator because he is still pretty wet

Was your humidity too high? That could have caused him to swallow the liquid. @RosemaryDuck any thoughts?
DucksAreBest is correct. If your humidity was to high during incubation it can cause the egg to not lose enough liquid. The ducklings can actually drown during hatching (or before) from this.

If he inhaled any liquid the odds aren't good because it can cause aspiration pneumonia. There isn't a lot you can do when they're this tiny. I'm so sorry. I'll tag @Isaac 0 too for their opinion. They've very good at stuff like this.

So sorry your baby isn't doing well and I hope things get better. ❤️

Thank you guys. Poor little guy didn't make it. The rest of the clutch had a great hatch rate. My humidity was between 50-60% during incubation but at hatching was up in the 80% range. He was very small and weak. I think the others hatching and kicking his egg around while he was trying to hatch may have caused his to aspirate the goo. I tried cleaning away what came out of his nose but sadly he only survived a few hours.
