We have had two Runner ducks hatch over the last two days. The last one pipped this morning when we woke up, but has done nothing since then. We candled it and the duckling is still alive, cheeping and tapping gently but it doesn't seem to be making any progress and we are worried that it might need help hatching. We can see bright red blood vessels when we candle it too. Do you think we should help it out and if so, how do we go about it without harming her. On our last batch of eggs, we only had 2 hatch out of 12 and are worried that this little one may get tired and die. We look forward to your advice.
Thank you. 👍🐣🦆

As if by magic, we tapped on the side of the incubator and she made a big hole, and has started to work her way around the egg, zipping. Thank you for your help and info :) 🦆 🦆 👍 👍 👍 🐣 🐣 🐣

Is she out yet? Congrats! What time is it for you? How many hours since morning? It's only 11:15 a.m. here. Give at least 24 hours after pip before assisting ducks.

She arrived about 2 hours ago, it is 19.45 here so she took about 12 hours in the end, all good. Thanks so much for your help. Such an amazing process!
