Duckling issues... seeking help

Sorry, feel the urge to say that: »IdealPoultry did it again!« @Magnolia Ducks and i have had not so good experiences with them, i will definitely not buy from them again ever. Black Swedish ducks instead of Magpies, small package and two of the ducks have developed a limp without any obvious reason. And your thread is not the first one reporting issues with their ducklings. :(
As for your ducklings, you are correct: Ducklings have more issues during hatching that chicks. Once they're out, ducklings are pretty tough cookies. Keep'em warm and well fed and they should be ok. Just do what the others have recommended to safe as many 'lings as you can and call that "hatchery"… :fl:hugs

I wouldnt call any of my orders from ideal good. Its been a "if you want 10, buy 25" kinda thing because some always end up dying. Not only ducks but chicks too. I planned to have some die, but not quite as many as Ive lost on this go around.

I have a chick order from them coming this week. I ordered more than I wanted once again... hopefully they do better though..

It seems that they're pretty far from ideal, then. Can you cancel the chick order and just buy from someone else? If you're buying 25 ducklings just to get ten that survive, you're wasting a good bit of money.

I have never had any health problems from them. I would order from them again. All the ducks have been lively and healty. They are a lot less expensive than the other hatcheries. I did get one missexed goose but I think that happens from time to time. It's very far from show quality. But if you want ducks for pets, eggs or meat, it's a great place. I didn't mind my buffs looking more like saxonys, though I would suggest that the magpies were crossed with crow. Such evil screeching. I keep my ducks for fun and outside of trying to breed some greys for my own pleas ure, I let everyone mix after I get them. So ideal works good for me. Those worried breed standard should go elsewhere.

Can you get poultry Nutri drench it’s a great product and a really good boost for shipped and just hatched ducklings can even be given straight.

I got some nutri drench and B12 from TSC. Headed home now. Got more falling out today. Balence issues and gasping...

I agree. I have heritage show barred rocks. Ideals poultry isnt breed standard, they are egg laying standard. Big difference. They are in the egg business.

I’d put both right in their bills a few drops just on the inside let them swallow and do it again till you’ve used one ml of the b complex and the Nutri drench will have the direction on the bottle. Also put the b complex into their water they will pee what they don’t need.

Another update. Ideal is sending me a whole new order of ducks along with the chick order im getting this week. They 100% are replacing this bad batch ive gotten. I let them know my set up and what ive done, they are blaming it on shipping and handling. Whatever it is that went wrong they are making good on it. I have to respect that kind of customer service.

I asked if they could insulate the box more or add a heat pack too.

I took out their gallon waterer and used a chik waterer, mixed both into the quart size chick waterer strong. Then dipped the beaks several times. Its all they got right now so they all have to drink it.
