Ducklings got into my backyard and I was able to save all but one from getting harmed from my German Shepard. I didn’t quite see what happened but I’m assuming he pounced or stepped on one bc it’s back legs are not working at all. The duckling appears to be a few weeks old.
how can I care for the ducks legs ? Or know for sure they are broken or paralyzed?

we tried bringing to the animal and bird hospital but they said they would euthanize if they can’t fix the legs so I just couldn’t bring myself to drop it off.

What breed or species are they? Is it wild or domestic?

Could you post some pictures from different angles or a video? It can help us get a better idea of what might be wrong with the baby.

Some have trouble posting videos so they post to Instagram, Vimeo, or YouTube and then just add a link to it.

If the leg(s) are broken they can heal depending on the extent of damage or where and if they can be placed in a splint.

Some ducks can live their lives in a special made wheel chair but their quality of life will depend entirely on your constant care and attention so that’s a decision onl you can decide on.

Unfortunatly sometimes if spinal trauma is severe enough it can cause organ malfunction, so if there’s a chance the baby might not make it.
