Duckling not walking

The duckling is walking but since it was curled up for 3 days it might be a neck problem, would this heal overtime and stabilize. Also it might need assistance eating and drinking. Can you give me a recipe for sugar water and how I should feed the baby. This does not have any siblings so trampling isn’t a problem but I am afraid that it might not survive the brooder. I hope the electrolyte water works. Thank you so much. I have pictures of the brooder. It looks small but keep in mind it is only for one duckling. I know I should get another but my mom doesn’t let me. I am a kid but I signed up to see if I could get help. Thank you very much.

I just add a big pinch of sugar to about a quarter cup of water. Then I hold up the dish of water just to the edge of the duckling’s bill (beak). This often stimulates them to drink when they feel the water touch their bill. If it doesn’t drink, don’t force it but try again in a little while.

It hatched today, right? So it might not eat yet and that is fine. You can offer it a bit of scrambled egg or crumbled hard boiled egg, and some wetted duckling food when it starts pecking at things.

Can you ask your mom to buy some nutridrench or poultry cell?

Sure, I can definetley ask her for that. When I get it could you please explain how to use it. By the way, which is better? And what would be easier to use, I am only 12.

Personally, I like the nutridrench but if you can only find one available get whichever one you can find. It’s sometimes available at tractor supply, otherwise you can get it on Amazon.

There are a couple ways to give nutridrench.

1. You can put a little in a dish and the duckling may drink it straight. Or you can put a tiny drop on the tip of their bill and they’ll usually swallow it.

2. You can add it to drinking water (there are directions on the bottle)

Tried the sugar water don’t think he drank it. I put it to his bill and didn’t drink it. Do you think he will be fine. He is active and chirping be his neck is weighing him down.

What I am most worried about is the water and food. I don’t want to put him in the brooder as he is still not fully dry, he wet himself with the water in the incubator. What should I do? Would putting him in the incubator help or would it kill him. I am afraid he might die over night because of his neck.

the duckling doesn’t need to eat for 24 hours so it’s ok to leave it in the incubator overnight. It will stay warm and dry in the incubator

What water did it wet itself with in the incubator?
It’s good that it is getting more active. Hopefully as it gets stronger it’s neck will improve so don’t worry about that too much for now.
If after 24 hours it is still having trouble with its neck, give it the vitamin E

If you can’t access the video put this link in safari it is an image so it doesn’t automatically convert it into a video.
