The other day I got two very cute Pekin ducklings. Friendly, and love to cuddle. I have been interacting with them as much as possible so they won't be afraid of humans when they get older...

Everytime Hubby or I have them out in out laps to play with them, they nibble, nibble a lot. Both nibble anything they can get into their bills. Right now they are attempting to nibble my pants and laptop. I think it's cute, but it does get annoying after a while.

Is the nibbling a normal baby thing? We have raised ducklings before, but we really didn't interact with them as much as we do with these guys.

Here is a pic of the babies:

i have one pekin duckling that i got the other day along wit a baby rouen duck and my peking duck nibbles at everything as well so i guess its just something they do

We have another question.

Why do they like armpits? lol I remember Duck_Feeder saying something about his duck liking armpits and I joked about it when we picked up these guys. Sure enough, as soon as we start handling them, they stick there heads right in my armpit.

Good news is that even though the 2 are together, they're bonding more with us than each other. Every time we walk in the room they start jumping at the side to come out.

It seems to me the nibbling is a good sign that they are good foragers - that's how they need to look for their food when they are outdoors or at the edge of a natural pond. My runners nibble everything, tug at my clothes, and are especially drawn to anything green. They pull at threads, if a wisp of my hair falls forward they nibble at that. I'd consider it a very healthy sign.

And, yes, I agree that the armpit snuggling is just an attempt to get under your wing.

Aren't they the sweetest?
