Duckling shaking, having a tough time walking?

I am sad to hear this. I wish I knew something to tell you that would help. Just keep loving and supporting little Spazz and I will be praying this might just be a genetic problem just hard to know :hugs. Is Spazz eating still?

Yes. But because he is with the other ducklings it’s hard to really tell how much :(

I hate to make him stay alone but maybe it would be better to separate him and the other Pekin to get a better idea of his food intake?

I thought he was a goner, I took him for a swim and figured he wouldn’t make it much longer... but I just returned home from being out and he has bounced back and looks a lot better again! All cleaned up and fluffy!

To top it off I gave him his Vit B and now it’s not shaking as it’s all snuggled in for the night...

He is turning white but his feathers are so fluffy and soft it’s amazing. The other Pekin is a little prickly to the touch as it’s feathers are coming in.

So we shall see!
I thought he was going to die today.

I wish I could understand why it still won’t walk!
I’m not sure where to go from here if the duck cannot walk
Can I build a wheelchair?
I can only imagine that conversation with my husband :lau

We surly understand what a roller coaster your on right now. As long as Spazz still has fight just keep on with what your doing. Lots of info on wheel chairs for poultry on you tube. How are you giving the liquid b again? Bless your heart we’re pulling for Spazz.

Thanks!

I’m giving the liquid B via oral syringe.
I tried peas and mealworms... the problem is he will only pick at these things when with the other ducklings... and he eats slower... but if I feed them all together like that then they bully him and eat it all. No matter how much I put in for the others and I even tried feeding them all a huge portion farther away from his food. They still gobble up theirs and then steal his.

If I try to feed him alone he won’t eat.

So the syringe is still my best option to make sure he actually gets it.

I tried putting it right in the water but then no one touches the water. Silly ducks. However I still do the probios and electrolytes in the water for everyone to enjoy.

Going to try separating the Pekin ducks and making a mash with the baby formula stuff and liquid B today as suggested earlier. Maybe I can make that work with only the two ducks.

The other Pekin is doing so well and honestly he has become a fast favorite. My son carries him around and he follows me outside like a puppy lol. I only wish Spazz could be like this too!

I wish so too. Your amazing not to give up yet. I think you should try this putting the two Pekins together and see if that works better for feeding. Sounds like your son has found a buddy. So good for kids and us adults too.

Ok... Update!

So... later today I will try to get a video...

But Spazz has started walking again. Not the greatest, but way improved.

The only thing that’s really changed at all is the bedding. I always used wood shavings. Well after a battle long lost I gave in and decided to try wood pellets.

I wanted the horse bedding but my work has been out of these for like ever...so I gave in and opted to try to stuff for rabbits/birds/small animals.
I was a little worried how Shakey aka Spazz would handle the change in footing (we kinda renamed Spazz and Tazz to Shakey and Drakey becuase my son thought Spazz was kinda mean :lau:idunno) BUT it was apparently the best decision EVER!

Not only does this bedding smell way way way better, and stay dryer, but when it fluffs up and then packs from getting wet it apparently makes it easier for my Shakey to dig in and get up!

I never noticed him struggling with the footing in the brooder before but he apparently prefers this texture and footing much much better.

Also he is eating the mealworms now and has become much more active again.

I hope he continues to walk better! :fl
