We have two muscovies out there laying on eggs and they hatched two ducklings (one on Thursday, one on Friday). When I went to check on the ducklings just now I found one of them dead having been squished. Should I move the remaining one indoors with a heating lamp/etc or let the mama's continue to care for it?

Sounds like to much weight for one duckling, I think I'd remove it and brood inside. if you can separate one of the mamas and let her have the duckling that would be even better.

I just had my runner do the same thing. She killed one and stomped two more. We collected the ducklings and moved them inside to a brooder. Removing them is probably your safest bet! Some mama's just aren't careful.

Thanks all! Moved it inside to a brooder and got a few ducklings to keep it company. It's happy with its new siblings and thriving. :)
