Duckling Thread!

More baby ducks! :D

The first one from the C-nest. With the suprising color of blue trout (lilac trout? Is that even a thing? She could carry blue ánd chocolate when female.. her colour looks much like my lilac duckling; but I never had a blue trout duckling..so I'm not sure..but since the parents are Bb and BB she múst have atleast a blue gene). Oh; he/she is also 3/4 runner.

The first one of the B-nest. Blue. With a weird short beak...wonder if that will catch up while he/she grows..

This poor thing is #2 from the b-nest. It seems born too early. It's really tiny; around the cloaca area stuff does NOT look okay, her wing sat the wrong way in the egg and is croocked, and one eye was waaaay smaller then the other eye. She came out of the egg wing over her head; with the small-eye-side against her body under her win..This probably lilac She made it through the night; and her eye fixed itself; allthough you will probably allways see that something was wrong with it due to the amount of white in her eye-cornor. I hope she grows well the next days and the problems solve itself; and we don't have to lose her the next few days.

A colour comparison; the blue/lilac trout, lilac duck, blue duck. You can see the lack of chocolate in the blue duck compared to the others.View attachment 1846520 Another one for fun;

Sweet, precious, and absolutely adorable! I love the blue\lilac ones, especially! :love

I finally got my KC eggs yesterday!!! They were stuck in the mail for a whole week! Out of 4 dozen eggs, 2 of them were cracked, and 6 of them I know for sure aren't going to hatch because when I candled them, they had "bubbles" in them.

Have any of you ever had that problem? It actually looks like bubbles in the egg, and when you turn the egg, the "bubbles" go throughout the whole egg. They don't just stay on the blunt end of the egg like an air sac should, the "bubbles" move all around when you turn the egg. It's so weird!

I also candled the rest of the 40 eggs, and their air sacs don't look like they should, either, but at least they are staying on the blunt end side of the eggs.

I had to let the eggs rest for 12 hours, blunt end up before I could put them in the incubators.

I put them in the incubators this morning at 2:00 AM. I'm using a Brinsea Octagon Advance incubator, and a Little Giant incubator. The Little Giant incubator is really hard to keep at the right temperature, so we'll see how it goes.

I pray that I get at least 10-15 ducklings out of the 40 eggs, but they got lost in the mail, and they were around 10 days old when I finally got them in the incubators, so who knows what'll happen.

Praying for the best! Praying that the good Lord will bless them even if they're hatch rates seem as if they'll be very low!

Happy duck raising and duck hatching to y'all!
Y'all have a blessed day!

The bubbles must be part of the air sack loosening and breaking into several parts, I guess? Very odd, never heard of it before. The odds are against those :(
Good luck with the rest, crossing fingers you'll get your ducklings! :fl

If you haven't, mark the eggs with bubbles. If they develop (and they likely will) you may have to assist them when it's time to hatch. You were in a tough spot. Generally you want to let the air cells come back together after shipping by setting them on the counter, but given the age of the eggs you really couldn't wait any longer. We'll be here with you in 28 days to see how it goes.:jumpy:jumpy

Oh correction on 1 of the blue ones; it is a color I have NO clue off what colour it is :O
It's dark mossgreen. =/ It allmost looks chocolate. But that's not possible. Dad is lavender (Ee, BB, CC) and mom black (EE, bb, c). The amount of lilac and blue (1/4th lilac and 3/4th blue) would suggest dad is definately BB and not Bb. And is he was Bb; he is way too light for lilac. Could he be Bb CC though (lilac) and maybe also has that M gene that lightens the whole duck? =/
Or any other thought on this topic?

There could be a tiny posibillity an egg from my blue duck got accidentally thrown in with the ones from the black duck. But since that mom is Bb blue; why does is not have a wild colour pattern? It is solid dark mossgreen. =/
Anyway; I will annoy you tommorow with pictures :p
