Hi I just had a broody duck hatch two ducklings. But we went into the block off area and found a duckling on its back soaked in water. Baby is making a very nasal sound, when we dried it off and tried to put it back with momma she was just stepping on it and attacking my hand.

Help I need is what should I do with the baby to help it get better? Second will momma duck take this baby back once I get it back on its feet?

currently I have the baby against my skin while I wait for an incubator up can warm.

Hopefully it hasn’t aspirated water. Keep it off its back hopefully any water will come up. Poor little one.

It is peeping a good amount now. Which is better than it had been. It’s also moving some in the incubator. Just worried that momma might not take it back once it’s better. What are the chances of that.

Put in brooder box even if you hens hatch your eggs you should have a brooder box just in case I turned my tortoise pen into a medical brooder box

They don’t want anything around that may bring in a predator like showing signs of sickness or distress so hopefully once this little one is up and running she may feel different about it let’s hope so.

The good news after a few hours in the incubator the little one was running around it. So I took it out to Momma a few minutes ago and she let it right under her with the other baby. So everything is looking bright for this baby.
