Hi everyone! im getting baby chicks very soon! mixed heritage breed and unsexed, will have to get rid of roosters but if anyone near Adelaide SA wants some or knows someone who does i might be able to give you some.
Any advice

My advice with chicks is to have the brooder ready, provide electrolytes for the first half a day then plain water, and have NutriDrench on hand just in case. It helps to dip a few of their beaks in the water as soon as you put them in the brooder so they know where it is and the others will get the idea.

Adding to the above, put marbles or clean pea gravel in the water so it's shallower and the chicks don't risk drowning if they were to, say, trip and fall in.
Also make sure they have an area of the brooder where they can get away from any heat sources you provide.

Or use a quail chick waterer as it's wide enough for a bird to drink but too narrow for them to drown in even without marbles
