If you feed your ducklings a crumble that is labeled for ducklings, no grit is needed. If you do want to give grit, give chick grit, do *not* give them the bigger stuff, especially stuff with oyster shell.

Just don’t feed them anything but their starter feed. That’s all they need for their first 2 weeks then you can begin to introduce treats but until then they don’t need grit. Sounds like the grit your friend is talking about might be oyster shell and it’s for layers. They can eat their feed with out grit!
Can you return that feed and get something labeled for ducklings?Oh that’s music to my ears, thank you! The reason I ask is that I just read the food packet and it said they needed grit down at all times and I panicked! I’ve attached photos to show which food I have. Do you still think I will be ok without it until it arrives?
Thanks again.
Unless it has chunks of grain in it they do not *need* grit. Call the mfg and ask them to tell you how much niacin is in it. If they tell you it has 55 ppm then you don't need to add niacin.Sadly that’s honestly all that I could get my hands on. It does say “for all kinds of poultry chicks, ducklings and goslings”.
I thought it would be fine and had it weeks now but now I’m looking into it a bit more I’m not so sure. I know I can add niacin on top, but I’m concerned that they will need grit now too.
