Ducklings are Hatching!!!

congrats! Very cute! Did mama bite you again?

Actually no i was surprised, but trying to hold her between my legs to keep her from jumping back into the crate before I got the pic. was a little difficult them ducks are like greased pigs.. lol

Looking at your list of critters i am going to say you are too.
With any luck! We're coming up on a month now, so if they're going to hatch, they'll do it soon. She's been getting up and turning them to inspect 'em, so maybe they'll hatch soon. I have everything from feed to housing to when they get to swim in the creek all planned out. :-)

My ducks have gone broody too, but I don't I can't let mama duck raise them.....Is there any way I can take the ducklings away from her but not traumatize her at the same time? She's been sitting for 4 days now, and my other duck just decided to join her on the same nest yesterday, so would two mamas changes how I would take them?

why can't you let mama duck raise them? Why would you take them? Just asking.......

Well, I don't know if this is true or not, but I've read that when two ducks share a nest, oftentimes they will fight over the ducklings that hatch, trampling the to death. Also, the first broody is a Khaki/Rouen mix, and the second is a Khaki, and I've read that Khakis tend to kill their babies when they hatch.....I've seen my khaki be very aggressive to my ducklings that I've hatched myself when I was trying to integrate them into the flock, so I guess I just don't want to take any chances.....
