Since Monday, I've been putting the ducklings in with our 2 adult females to help get them use to each other. Kaeda and Duchess don't mind the ducklings and have actually been staying away from them. Lil Quack, Pinto, and Banshee are enjoying being in a bigger yard but I think the fact that the adults are staying away from them is getting to their heads.
Whenever the adults come over to drink water or to eat food, the ducklings keep scaring them off.
All 3 ducklings will be 4 weeks old this weekend.

Is this something I should leave alone?
Should I intervene?

I assume they have sorted this out? My 7 week old Golden Layers pick back at some of the older flock but they’ve been picked on too. They have only been introduced within the past 2 weeks and while they are free-ranging together during the day I keep them separated at night.

I rarely see the young trio have anything to do with the adults and vice versa.

When I started with Muscovy my female hatched 10 ducklings and the funniest thing I ever saw was when those ducklings took off after the other 2 female Muscovy. They were running for their lives and there is no way those ducklings could have hurt those girls.

I believe they are just trying to establish dominance.

Just an update. Nobody has to reply as I got my question answered on facebook
What was the answer?

When I got my two Muscovy ducklings 3 years ago, they chased Daphne, my adult Rouen, relentlessly. They earned the names “Goon 1” and ”Goon 2” due to their bad behavior. Daphne was NOT impressed. I figured that they were just trying to make it clear that they were big bad ducklings that shouldn’t be messed with. They made their point, and eventually everyone became friends. I guess when you are tiny, you have to be tough!

A lot of people on facebook told me to just leave them alone and it will sort itself out.
